Essence of American and Chinese Gratitude Culture: A Prerequisite Quality of Responsible Citizen

Abstract: This thesis first introduces the definitions of gratitude in China and Western countries. It then describes the manifestations that many Chinese young people lack gratitude; and analyzes the reasons of the manifestations. The thesis mainly discusses the manifestations of American and Chinese gratitude culture and summarizes the essence of them. Finally the thesis makes an argument that acquiring the essence of American and Chinese gratitude culture is essential for Chinese young people to be responsible citizens; and it also analyzes the benefit of gratitude idea for young people and society.

美国和中国感恩文化的精髓：合格公民的必备素质

摘要：本文首先介绍了中国和西方国家有关感恩的一些定义。接着描述了中国许多年轻人缺乏感恩观念的情况，并分析了这些情况的成因。这篇文章主要论述了美国和中国感恩文化的表现，并总结其精髓。最后提出了本文的论点：学习美国和中国感恩文化的精髓，对中国青年人成为一个合格的公民，是必不可少的。另外本文还分析了感恩思想对年轻人自身和社会的益处。
