摘要
本文首先描述了文学名著《飘》中的女主人公思嘉丽·奥哈拉个性特征的变化以及女主人公在美国南北战争前后性格特点并作出对比，再进一步分析了思嘉丽个性特征的总体变化和她最显著﹑最复杂的双重性格，同时分析了这种双重性格在南北战争前后的变化以及在她个人成长中的重要性。文章最后深入分析了思嘉丽在战争前后性格变化的原因，从内因和外因两个角度探索了生活环境的改变和人的内心欲望对人的性格造成的深远影响。

ABSTRACT
This paper first discusses Scarlett O′ Hara’s general character changes to present a vivid picture of Scarlett’s characters before and after the American civil war respectively so as to make a comparison between them. It then explores her most conspicuous and complicated dual character changes before and after the war, which forms her most significant development in her growth. It finally probes into the external and internal causes of Scarlett’s character changes before and after the civil war by exploring the deep influence on her character caused by the change of living conditions and social needs as well as human desires.
